I put up a string of icicle lights on my house. They were working when I took them out of the crate but when I finally hooked them up and turned them on, a couple of the strands did not work. I was frustrated and spent a 1/2 hour just moving things around to see if I could get them to turn on. I decided to go out an buy a couple new sets and I saw this gadget at the local hardware store. I never heard of it. I had a gift card so purchasing it wasn't as painful.
I went home, looked at the video on their website and gave it a try. I climbed up the ladder, pulled a bulb from one of the strands and connected the gadget and pulled the trigger as instructed. It only took one pull and the lights lit up. I about fell off the ladder in amazement. I could then see that I had about 10 bulbs that were out. I replaced them and now can return the new lights I purchased because I didn't have faith this thing would work. I also used this to light up a strand of non working lights on my pre lit tree. Presto, one pull and they lit up. I couldn't be any happier.
It's a shame that I threw away several strands of non working lights a day before. I could have salvaged them with the light keeper pro. This is the best money I have spent and recommend it highly to anyone.

You do not have to be an electrician to use this effectively but to all those who say it does not work, I do not think that you paid attention to the video. This definitely DOES work as claimed. Best case scenario the voltage detector saves you from having to check every bulb one by one (as it has for me 3 times so far thank you God). Worst case scenario you have to plug the circuit into the device and squeeze the trigger up to 20 times to burn off the oxidation blocking the connection. Even has a bulb and fuse checker in case you are like me and accidentally put some burnt bulbs in the same bag as good ones. This thing saved me time and money and for that I give it 5 stars and can say with 100% confidence it works and is an invaluable tool. Traditional (non-LED) light strings are pretty much obsolete UNLESS you own one of these.

Now, I'm the first to admit that usually (in the past) when a string of lights (even the icicles we hang from the porch) went 'dead,' I'd toss it and move on. What's $6-$8 on a new string? BUT, when segments of our very nice, expensive pre-lit tree ceased to light . . . well, my stomach turned. Less than 5 minutes with the Lightkeeper Pro, 4 bulbs removed and 'clicked' and we're now back in business! The tree lit beautifully immediately (it does go out again when you remove the 'gun' until you replace the bulb you removed, then all was well again - just in case that takes anyone else by surprise!). All the sections are now lit. The dead bulbs are relatively easy to hunt down and replace, and even if we miss them the rest of the tree now stays lit! I've seen the descriptions of how exactly it works (the pulse of electricity, and shunts, and what-not), but as far as I'm concerned it's absolute MAGIC!
A quick trip to the HD and a single Jackson spared us hours of headache and potentially hundreds of dollars. I couldn't be happier!

I figured there is no way this thing could be as good as advertized. I was wrong. I had two sections of lights that weren't working on a pre-lit tree. In less than two minutes, both were working perfectly. It was one of the best twenty bucks I've ever spent.

After a particularly harsh move, our pre-lit tree only had half of one level lit when plugged in. I sighed, remembering last year when I pulled literally hundreds of bulbs to check them just to fix half the tree. I had purchased this product locally so I thought, can't do worse than last year. I pulled one bulb, inserted the socket into the handle of the device, pulled the trigger a couple times and the whole strand turned on! So I tried it again. Same results. My husband, looking over my shoulder, almost jumped up and down like a little boy on Christmas morning, saying "Lemme try, lemme try!"
We were able to get the whole tree lit in less than helf an hour. The shunt fix didn't work on one section so we followed the step by step diagnostics included with the LightKeeper Pro and had to spend a little time pulling bulbs but overall, significantly less time spent yelling at unlit bulbs.
Therefore, I recommend this product wholeheartedly. It works exactly as described and can take a lot of the frustration out of holiday decorating.
